Bristol Academy edged a point closer to safety with a
1-1 draw against fourth placed Doncaster Rovers Belles.
The home side had the better of the first half and went ahead ten minutes before the interval through an opportunist strike from leading scorer Gwennan Harries.
After the break, a huge goalmouth scramble almost resulted in an equaliser and Rachel Simkin made a superb save from Chelsea Weston but the Belles were not to be denied. In the 72nd minute, Weston drilled home a 20-yard free kick to level the scores.
The Belles piled on the pressure late on with a number of attempts on goal but Academy stood firm and almost snatched a winner themselves as Harries broke away but lobbed her shot narrowly over.
Birmingham City's fine season continues and they consolidated themselves in fifth place with a 3-1 victory over WFC Fulham.
Liverpool remain just above the relegation zone after they went down 1-0 at home to Watford, who gained revenge for their 3-0 defeat by the Reds seven days earlier. Charlotte Young settled matters with the only goal of the game, just before the hour mark.
