Academy given the Blues
 Women's Football News 24 Oct 2008
Birmingham City lifted themselves into fifth place in the National Division with a 2-1 victory over Bristol Academy.
Two goals in a three-minute spell from Becky Hall and Kate Moran proved to be decisive as the Blues kept up their impressive start to the season.
However they needed to withstand late pressure from Academy who gave themselves hope in the dying minutes when Gwennan Harries curled home a 25-yard free kick.
Blackburn Rovers are also in the top half following their 2-0 success away to Leeds Carnegie. Two former Leeds players came back to haunt their old club with Natalie Preston giving Rovers the lead on the half hour and Karen Burke sewing up the match with ten minutes remaining.
