Peterborough eventually emerged as winners from their tie with Peterborough Azure in one of only two F.A.Women's Cup Preliminary Round ties to go all the way to a penalty shootout.
After the teams had battled out a 2-2 draw, it was Peterborough who triumphed 6-5 from the resulting spot kicks to book themselves a home tie in the First Qualifying Round with Hethersett Athletic, who progressed by scoring five without reply away to Swanton Utd.
West Bridgford Colts were another side to triumph in a local derby match, beating West Bridgford 4-2. The Colts' reward is a journey to Buxton.
Barnsley were 3-1 winners after coming from behind in the Yorkshire derby tie against Sheffield FC.
Lisa Giampalma opened after three minutes for Sheffield but Barnsley hit back with Rachel Petyt levelling five minutes later. Nicki Wilde soon put Barnsley in front and Petyt, who gave an impressive display on the day, netted her second early in the second half.
Wigan Athletic came through a tricky trip to Lancaster City in some style, running out 9-0 winners to book themselves a trip to Windscale. Guiseley meanwhile edged out Sheffield Utd Community 3-2 and they now go to Winterton Rangers.
Welbeck Welfare recorded the one of the biggest victories of the day, 14-1 against Marlborough Rovers, they now play St Patrick's whilst Loughborough Foxes stormed to a 4-0 success away to Long Eaton Utd to set up a trip to Mansfield Town.
Pegasus Ladies won their local derby tie by the odd goal in five against Worcester City and now host Lichfield Diamonds and Leamington Lions' 5-2 success away to Ferndale means they must travel to Walsall.
Cambridge University's narrow 1-0 win against Histon Hornets earns them a trip to Woodbridge Town, who scored seven without reply against Thorpe Utd.
West Lynn won 5-0 at Haverhill Rovers and Cambridge Utd await them in the next round, Bedford Ladies meanwhile went one better by scoring six past Leighton Linslade, they now go to Kettering Town who were 11-0 winners over Woodford Utd.
Sarah Tayler scored a hat-trick as Arlesey Town beat Daventry Town 8-2 and now play Leighton Utd who won 6-2 against Kingsthorpe. Hana Kratochvilova and Karen Clark added doubles for Arlesey, with Mia Price and Michelle Whitehead adding the others.
Sandy Ladies' 5-0 victory over Brackley Sports means they must face St Martins, winners against AFC Kempston Rovers by the odd goal in seven. Raunds Town defeated Flitwick Eagles 3-1 to ensure they travel to Corby S & L in the next round.
The other Preliminary Round tie to go to penalties saw Runwell & Rayleigh Raiders win from the spot after sharing a 2-2 draw with Tempest, they now go to Garston. Hemel Hempstead Town meanwhile beat Billericay Town 5-2 to book themselves a trip away to Dagenham & Redbridge, 2-0 victors at Hoddesdon Owls.
Braintree Town will now play Brentwood Town after they won 2-0 against Tring Athletic, while arguably the game of the day came at Great Berry where visitors Royston Town emerged as 7-5 victors, earning themselves a trip to Hawkwell Athletic who won 2-1 away to Hutton. Hitchin Hearts scored six without reply against Runwell Hospital and they now face Hannakins. Kat Hemplova and Laura Ravenscroft each netted twice for Hitchin, with Ollie Olson and Jemima Penny also on the scoresheet.
Barking booked themselves a home tie with London Colney following their 2-1 success at West Bergholt, Carly Copplestone and Liane Prior were on target, and Old Actonians scored seven without reply against The Comets, they must now play at home to Hampton.
Extra time was needed in a very closely fought tie between Panthers and Denham Utd, the former eventually triumphing 5-3 to guarantee themselves a trip to Battersea. London Corinthians enjoyed a more straightforward passage, beating Aylesford 4-0 to earn an away tie with Haywards Heath Town, who won 2-0 at Seahaven Harriers.
Deal Town came away from Kent rivals Ramsgate with a 4-0 victory and they are at home to Crowborough Athletic, who beat Crawley Wasps 3-1. Eastbourne Town's narrow 1-0 success at Rottingdean has earned them a difficult trip to Ebbsfleet Utd.
The highest scoring team of the day were Shanklin, who netted eighteen times past Abbey Rangers, the Isle of Wight side are now at home to either Horley Town or Bisley. Chichester City Utd defeated Merstham 4-2 and must now play Aldershot Town, who scored five times at Eastleigh. Wandgas meanwhile won 3-1 away to Littlehampton Town, they have to travel to Andover New Street. Maidenhead Utd's 5-1 victory against Chalfont St Peter earns them a tie with Aylesbury Utd.
The comeback of the day was probably staged by Stoke Lane Athletic who came from 3-1 behind to beat Swindon Supermarine 4-3 and earn themselves a home tie with either Cheltenham Town or Newbury Ladies & Girls. Captain Leanne Ware netted two penalties with Faye Slade and Jade Gamlin also on target. Reading Girls defeated Brize Norton 4-0 and will play MK Wanderers or Salisbury City.
Tara Taylor was on target twice as Frome Town eased to a 7-1 success at Alphington and the Somerset side now have an intriguing trip to Cullompton Rangers. Lindsey Whitton, Mel Sartain, Victoria Dodds, Kelly Cripps and Kate German added the other goals. Weymouth meanwhile stormed to a 5-0 success away to Poole Town and they must travel to Launceston.
