 Women's Football News 29 Aug 2008
Luton keep up good start - 29 Aug 2008 - Women's Football NewsLuton Town's good start to the season was maintained as they came from behind to notch up their second win in a row, 3-1 against newly promoted Tottenham Hotspur.
Jade McEntaggart, Amy Somerfield and Janet Ligouri netted the goals for Luton with Spurs having earlier taken the lead through Carmel Clinton.
Naomi Lyon and Fay Rees were on the scoresheet as Welwyn Garden City defeated Northampton Town 2-0 to move into second place.
Lewes also kept up their 100% start to the season by beating Gillingham 2-1. Claire Trafford netted the winner for the Sussex side in injury time, to add to Keira Chapman's earlier strike.
Enfield Town are the fourth team in the table with a maximum six points, thanks to a hard fought 3-2 success over Norwich City. Norwich took an early lead through Nicola Bray with Enfield hitting back via a Shannon Moloney penalty late in the first half. Rebecca Laporte and Derrie O'Halloran then struck to give Enfield the points although Gemma Farman's penalty set up a close finish.
There were goals galore at Bedford Town Bells where visitors Wellingborough Diamonds recorded a huge 9-3 victory. Player manager Vicky Gallagher led the way with a seven-goal haul, Kirsty Cooper contributing a double.
Cambridge City also registered their first win of the season, 2-0 away to Whitehawk. Kayleigh Oliver gave City the lead, with Sophie Thompson also on target.
