Newcastle duo join Whitley - 16 Jun 2008 - Women's Football NewsWhitley Bay secured their first signings of the season when they made a double raid on Newcastle United and captured the signatures of Lisa and Sarah Coleman.
Lisa and Sarah are two of the Coleman triplets and sister Rachel still plays for the Toon, but both were keen to make a fresh start at the Coast outfit who are newly promoted into the North East League Premier Division.
The sisters, aged 21, were part of the Newcastle team that knocked Whitley out of last season's Northumberland County Cup and Whitley's manager Colin Phillips was impressed with what he saw, saying: "Lisa and Sarah are very good players and when I knew that they hadn't re-signed for Newcastle, I was determined to persuade them to come to Whitley Bay. I am delighted that we are seen as a viable alternative for players of such quality and I am very pleased to have signed them"
Lisa and Sarah said: "Whitley are very ambitious and we hope that we can part of their future success."
