Rachel Yankey signs for the Blues
 Women's Football News 11 Jul 2004
Rachel Yankey signs for the Blues - 11 Jul 2004 - Women's Football NewsBirmingham City have made their second big name signing of the summer to help boost their aspirations of becoming one of the major forces in this country. The ambitious Blues have landed England winger Rachel Yankey, hot on the heels of her international team mate Amanda Barr.
The 24-year-old has left Fulham after four successful years with the Cottagers, which have also seen her established on the left wing in the England side and approaching her 50th cap. With brilliant youngster Karen Carney in contention for a place on the other flank, Birmingham could well be one of the most exciting teams to watch in the coming season.
Blues Managing Director Marcus Bignot is understandably delighted with his new capture, saying: "We are delighted to have a player of Rachel's ability on our books for next season."
