Regional Leagues round-up…
East Midlands League
Eleanor Abercrombie and Imogen Fowler scored the goals as Chesterfield Ladies won 2-1 against Stamford AFC Women to narrow the gap on leaders Sheffield FC, who were on Adobe Women’s FA Cup duty, to three points. In the other game, Anstey Nomads raced to a 6-1 victory away to Ilkeston Town, courtesy of doubles from Annie Barnes, Milly Wortley and Analeice Wilkes.
Gainsborough Trinity have gone eight points clear at the top of Division One North following their 4-2 victory away to second placed Grimsby Town Academy, Grace Jones hitting a hat-trick and Lauren Crellin the other. Dronfield Town are up to third, they defeated Notts County Development 5-2 thanks to a Charlotte Bennehan brace, Ruby Burns, Kristine Humble and Suzie Gelson. Belper Town meanwhile climbed out of the bottom two with a 4-1 victory over Buxton FC Women, Alice Faulding netting twice along with Samantha Bennett and Honor White.
One match was played in Division One Central, Beaumont Park beating Brookside Athletic 4-2 to increase the gap between the two teams to four points. Tahli Spence, Jordan Knibbs, Madison Elliott and Freya Gardner all scored for Beaumont, with Kayleigh Needham and Katie Colman replying.
Division One South leaders New Bradwell St Peter have gone down to their first defeat of the season, beaten 1-0 by Northampton Town Development who scored through Melissa Burford. Dunton & Broughton Utd also won 1-0 against Cardea Ladies, Emily Miles scoring the only goal of the game.
Eastern Region League
Bowers & Pitsea leapt into the top three in the Premier Division on Sunday after defeating Dussindale & Hellesdon Rovers 2-0 with goals from Olivia Harris and Abigail Woollvin. In the other match to be played, Shanique Brown and Olivia Martin netted the goals as Enfield Town came away from Needham Market with a 2-1 victory under their belts.
In Division One South, Chelmsford City ran out 5-1 winners over Stanway Pegasus Women to lift themselves up into third place. Zoe Rushen spearheaded the win with a four-goal haul and Jasmine Cox was also on target.
One match took place in the First Round of the League Plate, Hertford Town progressing with a 7-1 victory over King’s Lynn Town. Charlie Mills and Tamzin Symonds-Bishop both scored twice for Hertford along with Jade Horsley, Melody Jones and an own goal.
London & South East League
Dorking Wanderers have gone level on points with second placed Saltdean Utd following their 1-0 win against Millwall Lionesses. Barking remain a further point behind them, they scored six times without reply past Newhaven. Laura Bunton led the scoring with a hat-trick, Portia-Milan Langley-Wright weighed in with a brace and Fran Pridie was also on target.
With Brentford involved in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, Bromley FC Women took the opportunity to replace them as Division One North leaders after Leen Winner Ekwo, Phoebe Murton and Lucy Rix gave them a 3-0 victory away to Hackney. Denham Utd defeated Leatherhead and now complete the top three, Jenny Nagle was on target twice along with Annie Hewitt, Rachel Keightley, Rebecca Horwood and an own goal. Richmond & Kew meanwhile edged themselves closer towards mid-table, thanks to a 3-0 win against Ashmount Leigh in which Chanel Morris, Jessica Roberts and Charlotte Willis-Sloanes all got on the scoresheet.
Bognor Regis Town have moved to within two points of Division One South leaders Saltdean Utd Development, they ran out 4-0 winners over Montpelier Villa courtesy of a Millie Carter double, Annabelle Gracey and Megan Thompson. Daisy Regnier meanwhile was on target for Soccer Elite Football Academy in their 1-1 draw against Bexhill Utd, who netted through Poppy Harrod.
North East League
League leaders Chester-le-Street Town were on Adobe Women’s FA Cup duty and this gave Alwick Town an opportunity to close the gap on them to two points, which they duly accepted with a 3-0 victory over Harrogate Town, Catherine Johnston bagged a brace and Chloe Young added the other. Ponteland Utd are up into the top three after they came from behind at half time to beat Wallsend Boys Club 4-1, with Kylie Holmes, Katie Monaghan, Rachel Bell and Abbie Blackwood accounting for the goals.
Norton & Stockton Ancients Res got back to winning ways in the Northern Division and they stretched their advantage to five points following their 5-1 success away to Gateshead FC Ladies, Anna McArthur was on target twice along with Annie Mitchell, Maddy Atkinson and Grace Campbell. Despite a goal from Abby Robson, second placed Thornaby Women were pegged back to a 1-1 draw by CLS Amazons who equalised on the hour through Kirsty Wood. Lily West (2) and Shakila Khalaghe gave Chester-le-Street Utd a 3-1 victory at Wallsend BC Res and Bishop Auckland defeated Hartlepool Utd 2-0 thanks to Emma Wright and Yazmin Robinson.
Ossett Utd now head the Southern Division table by nine points after they ran out 6-0 winners over Sheffield Wednesday with six different players on the scoresheet; Eleanor Betteridge, Emily Burgin, Jessica Carney, Chelsea Pilmer, Debbie Hastings and Rowan Treagus all netting a goal apiece.
North West League
Darwen FC Women have a three point lead at the top of the Premier Division after running out 4-0 winners over Bury FC Women, with a goal apiece from Maddison McKenna, Amanda Goodwin, Alicia Johnson and Georgia Parkinson. Wythenshawe Women meanwhile replaced Curzon Ashton in second place by beating them 6-1, Olivia Dixon hitting a hat-trick with others from Chelsea Flanagan, Kirsty Chambers and Ciara Boylan. Zoe Hughes, Amy Shannon and Lorna Stratton accounted for the goals as Tranmere Rovers notched up a 3-0 victory over West Didsbury & Chorlton, a result which takes them up to third. Salford City Lionesses recorded their second league success of the season, 2-1 away to Crewe Alexandra with Laura Tobin and Lily Robinson on the scoresheet.
In Division One North, Penrith AFC Ladies went level on points with leaders Bolton Wanderers after Sharena Robinson scored the only goal of the game in their 1-0 win against Workington Town. In the other game, Morecambe climbed out of the bottom two when they defeated Haslingden 7-3, Ruby Hindle and Yasmine Carswell each scoring twice with others from Emily Crossland, Hannah Paling and Charlotte Gray.
Poulton Vics further extended their lead in Division One South to eight points with a 7-1 victory over Macclesfield FC Women, which included a four-goal haul from Katy Beattie with Charlotte Locke also on the scoresheet. Wigan Athletic made up ground on the top three by winning 6-2 at MSB Woolton and Chester FC Women defeated Warrington Town 3-1 thanks to first half goals from Chenai Lefebvre (2) and Ciara Lee. Ellesmere Port Town claimed their second league victory of the season in some style, 7-1 against Wirral Phoenix with Jenny Rogers on target four times, and others coming from Samantha Barker, Eleanor Barber-Rodger and Lily Worden.
South West League
Gloucester City took full advantage of their rivals’ inactivity to beat SGS Olveston Utd 9-0 and open up a lead of four points at the top of Division One North in the only match to survive the weather throughout the league on Sunday. Sachiko Keneko-Grun once again led the scoring with a four-goal haul, and there was one apiece from Taite Scheafer, Lucabella Davis, Laina Warren, Miranda Smith and Nalani Lasmarias.
Southern Region League
Ascot Utd made a swift return to the leadership in the Premier Division, taking over from Oxford City on goal difference after doubles from Leah Littlechild and Olivia Glover took them to a 4-0 victory away to Sholing. In the other game, Annie Northwood, Libby Wilkinson and Kayleigh Tonks accounted for the goals as Winchester City Flyers won 3-2 against Selsey Women, whose replies came from Gemma Halford and Kate Delillis.
One match was played in Division One North, Ascot Utd Res narrowing the lead of table toppers Beaconsfield Town to two points by scoring seven times without reply past Caversham Utd. Sarah Jones was on target twice for the Yellas along with Karen Banduka, Tiffany Skinner, Stephanie Ferreira, Louise Pullen and Keziah Banduka.
Fleet Town have taken over at the top of Division One South following their 3-2 success away to Bursledon. Amy Granger netted a goal in each half for Fleet and Keira Simpson was also on target, whilst Isobel Pouncy bagged a brace for the home side. Fleet head the table on goal difference from AFC Stoneham, who were 2-0 winners over Woking thanks to Abbie Awdas and Imogen Mullins.
West Midlands League
Lye Town moved into second place in the Premier Division on goal difference, ahead of Kidderminster Harriers and six points behind leaders Shifnal Town, after sharing a 3-3 draw with Alvechurch. Alisha Sheridan was on target twice and Katie Jamieson added the other for improving Alvechurch, whilst Lye netted through a Chloe Handy double and Sunya Salim. Burton Albion meanwhile closed the gap on Leek Town to a single point in mid-table as they ran out 5-2 winners in their meeting. Farrah Hoyle hit a hat-trick for the Lady Brewers, with Shanae Thomas and Hajrah Mahmood also getting on the scoresheet.
In Division One North, Lichfield City played only their third league match of the season, but recorded their third victory, 6-0 against Tamworth and they move up to third in the process. Saddiqa Shan and Shelbie Cartwright both scored twice and the others came from Loren Cooper and Courtney Dilger. The other game in the division between Rugby Town and AFC Telford Utd finished in a goalless draw, which keeps the gap between the two sides at two points.
The only match to be played in Division One South produced a significant result as leaders Halesowen Town were beaten for the side, beaten 6-3 by Droitwich Spa, who climb up to fifth place as a result.
