Glasgow City stay five points clear at the top of the table after running out 6-1 winners over Aberdeen on a day which saw a total of 40 goals scored in the five top flight matches played. City powered into a four-goal lead inside the opening fifteen minutes, Nikol Kozlova netting an early double with Brenna Lovera and Natalia Wrobel joining her on the scoresheet. Lisa Forrest further increased their advantage early in the second half and Lovera completed her brace, before Nicola Jamieson scored a late consolation for the Dons.
Rangers meanwhile got themselves back to form and it was Queen’s Park who caught the backlash from them. Lizzie Arnot opened the scoring in the ninth minute and Rangers ran riot from that point with Mia McAuley, Olivia McLoughlin, Katie Wilkinson and Camille Lafaix all netted twice, while Rio Hardy, Brogan Hay and Jane Ross also found the net with two own goals making up the tally.
Hibernian scored six times without reply past Spartans and, with Hearts not having a game, the result lifted Hibs above them into third place. Once again, the bulk of the damage was inflicted in the first half, with Eilidh Adams giving them a fourth minute lead and after Michaela McAlonie, Ciara Grant, Kirsten Reilly put them further ahead, Adams netted her second ahead of the interval. Kirsty Morrison rounded off the scoring for Hibs with the final goal, midway through the second half.
A 4-2 victory over Partick Thistle means that Celtic remain in touch with the leading sides in fifth place. Saoirse Noonan got the reigning Champions off to a great start when she put them ahead after seven minutes but Thistle hit back after the break, Carla Boyce levelling the scores just before the hour mark. Three goals in a ten minute spell turned the match in Celtic’s favour, strikes from Noonan, Kelly Clark and Maria McAneny giving them the points despite Demi Falconer pulling one back for Partick in injury time.
Defeat for Partick means that Motherwell have moved five points in front of them in the battle for a top half position, after they notched up a 6-1 win away to Dundee Utd. Laura Berry netted twice, the second from the penalty spot, inside the opening quarter hour and Chelsie Watson also contributed a brace ahead of half time. Freya Brien raised hopes for United when she reduced the arrears in the first minute of the second half but Berry restored the advantage on the hour with her hat-trick goal and Sophie Black completed the scoring late on.
