Manchester derby on course to smash record

A record number of tickets have already been snapped up by eager fans to see Manchester United Women take on local rivals Manchester City in the Women’s Super League (WSL) at Old Trafford on November 19th.

Over 36,000 tickets have so far been sold, with the number set to rise further before matchday, ensuring that Marc Skinner’s team will be cheered on by a record crowd for a WSL game at the Theatre of Dreams.

November’s derby will be the fifth WSL game played at Old Trafford and surpass the previous record attendance of 30,196 for the visit of Aston Villa in 2022. The match offers fans the chance to see one of the biggest derbies in women’s football played in one of the world’s most famous stadiums, with United hoping for the same outcome as last season’s dramatic 2-1 win over City at Leigh Sports Village.

Manchester United Women Head Coach, Marc Skinner commented: “As a squad, we have shown that we can perform on the biggest stages – winning all our previous games at Old Trafford and competing so strongly in the FA Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley in May. And of course, many of our players were successfully involved in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand last summer.

“Women’s football is capturing the nation’s imagination like never before, and playing these matches at grounds like Old Trafford can only add to the ever-increasing profile of our team, the WSL and the women’s game in general.”

With over a week to go until the local rivals take to the pitch, tickets are still available to purchase via the club’s website. The game is scheduled for 4.30pm GMT on Sunday, 19th November, and tickets are priced at £15 for adults and £7.50 for fans aged under 16 or over 65.
