Genero Adran Leagues

Cardiff City Women returned to the top of the Genero Adran Premier table when they won 3-1 away to Barry Town Utd on Thursday night.

Mikayla Cook got the Bluebirds off to a great start when she gave them the lead after nine minutes and after Ingrid Aadland had levelled the scores for the home side, Fiona Barry put City back in front ahead of the half time break. The game remained in the balance before any hopes of another Barry fightback were ended when Molly Kehoe netted the third goal late on. The result means that City have a two points lead at the top over previous leaders The New Saints, who have a game in hand.

Briton Ferry Llansawel are a further two points adrift of TNS as they cemented themselves in the top three places by winning 2-1 at Cardiff Met Women, who remain at the foot of the table. The game had a dramatic ending as Ferry took the lead with twelve minutes remaining through Alison Witts. As the match went into injury time, Beca Thomas looked to have salvaged a valuable point for the Archers when she equalised but there was late heartbreak for Met as, two minutes later, Lucy Powell held her nerve to score the decisive goal from the penalty spot to hand Ferry a sixth league win of the season.
