Genero Adran Leagues
The Genero Adran Premier table is starting to look very congested with only one point covering the top five teams, still headed by Briton Ferry Llansawel following their 2-2 draw with Cardiff City Women, in which they were pegged back by the reigning Champions.
Ferry took the lead through Lowri Ridings as half time approached and Alison Witts made it two, just after the hour mark. City were not beaten though and two goals in the final ten minutes from Eliza Collie prevented them from successive defeats and salvaged a point which leaves them in third place in the table.
The New Saints now occupy second place after they recorded a stunning 5-0 victory away to Swansea City, who would have taken over the leadership with a win. Caitlin Chapman gave TNS the lead with five minutes on the clock, with Chantelle Teare netting twice ahead of half time. Maria Francis-Jones made it four with fifteen minutes left and Teare rounded off the scoring late on when completing her hat-trick.
Barry Town Utd are another team which is one point off the pace, thanks to a 1-0 win against Wrexham. Ellie Preece scored the only goal of the game with fifteen minutes to seal a third win in five matches for Barry.
Cardiff Met Women and Aberystwyth Town went into their meeting with both sides looking for their first win and points of the season, having lost their opening four matches. In the end they had to settle for the latter and both teams are now off the mark after the match finished goalless.
Genero Adran Trophy
Connah’s Quay Nomads secured top spot in Group One with a 3-0 victory against NFA FC, courtesy of a goal apiece from Alisha Wright, Alisha Whitehead-Hughes and Hannah Slack. Joining them in the last sixteen are Llandudno who took second place in the group by beating CPDM Bangor Women 4-0, with Rebecca Jarvis-Evans and Ella Jones scoring two goals apiece.
Flint Town Utd picked up the result they needed to confirm finishing as Group Two winners and did so in some style, running out 9-3 winners over CPDM Y Felinheli. Jennifer Haynes and Zoe Stopford both scored hat-tricks for Flint and Kaelyn Williams weighed in with a brace, Rosie Hughes rounding off the scoring. This left Llanfair Utd needing to avoid defeat against CPD Y Rhyl 1879 in order to take the runners-up spot and they duly won 4-0, courtesy of Harriet Davies, Sophie Cook, Lucie Gwilt and an own goal.
Caldicot Town finished up as the leaders of Group Three on goal difference following their 2-1 victory over Llanelli Town. Stacey Webber had given Llanelli a first half lead but goals shortly after half time from Rianne Jones and Millie Pearce enabled Caldicot to pick the result that they required to take them through. Swansea University had started the day on top of the group but found themselves eliminated after going down 1-0 to Cascade Youth Club, who join Caldicot in the knockout stages. Annaliese Lewis netted the only goal of the game for Cascade in the nineteenth minute.
Penybont Utd travelled to Pontypridd Utd and recorded a 3-2 win over the Genero Adran South leaders, which means they qualify as Group Four winners. Maddie Priday scored what proved to be the winner for Penybont to add to earlier strikes from Mollie Jones and Casey Daniels, whilst the home side’s replies came from Caitlin Seaborne and Sophie McMullen. This gave Cwmbran Celtic the opportunity to join Penybont in the last sixteen by avoiding defeat at Cambrian Utd and they made it safely through, Jade Crofts netting twice along with Elise Meaney and Lauren Boyd as Cwmbran ran out 4-1 winners whilst the home side’s consolation came from Leah Davies.
