It’s Chelsea at the treble!

Chelsea 3 (Baltimore pen 45,90, Macario 84)

Manchester Utd 0

att: 74,412; at Wembley Stadium

Chelsea completed a domestic treble, defeating Manchester United 3-0 in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium, with Sandy Baltimore scoring twice to seal the victory.

The deadlock was broken just before half time when Baltimore calmly converted a penalty into the bottom corner after Celine Bizet fouled Erin Cuthbert in the area. Manchester United, despite creating several first half opportunities, failed to capitalise, and Chelsea—already champions of the Subway Women’s League Cup and Barclays Women’s Super League this season—made them pay.

United, the defending champions and appearing in their third consecutive final, started brightly, pressing high and dominating possession. Grace Clinton was a constant threat, forcing a crucial block from Chelsea’s Millie Bright early on. However, Chelsea soon found their rhythm, with Lucy Bronze setting up Aggie Beever-Jones for a chance that was thwarted by United goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce.

The first half remained open, with both sides creating chances. United’s Elisabeth Terland set up Dominique Janssen, who fired just over, while Chelsea’s Mayra Ramirez and Bronze both went close, the latter’s effort being smothered by Tullis-Joyce. Beever-Jones also tested the United keeper with a low shot as Chelsea’s pressure mounted, leading to the penalty that gave them the lead at the break.

United started the second half strongly, with Terland heading straight at Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton and Ella Toone’s volley forcing a sharp save. However, Chelsea regained control, and despite Beever-Jones missing a golden opportunity with twenty minutes left, they secured their sixth Women’s FA Cup title in the 84th minute.

Catarina Macario rose highest to head in a Baltimore free kick and double Chelsea’s lead, leaving Tullis-Joyce with no chance.

Baltimore capped a stellar performance in stoppage time, turning and smashing in a close range effort from a Wieke Kaptein cross to add gloss to the scoreline. The victory draws Chelsea level with Doncaster Rovers Belles on six FA Cup successes, with only Arsenal (14) and Southampton (8) having won more.
