Alloa set for women’s football festival weekend

The Indodrill Stadium in Alloa is set to host a festival of women’s football on the first weekend of May, with four national cup finals spread across two days.

In what promises to be an exciting weekend of action from across the women’s and girls’ grassroots game, punters can enjoy four thrilling games across the two days.

The senior competitions are title sponsored by Scottish Women’s Football Principal Partner, ScottishPower. The finals for the league cups from the regional divisions will see Grampian Ladies vs Cumbernauld United contest the ScottishPower Regional League Plate at 3pm on Saturday and Cumbernauld Colts and Edinburgh University Thistle contest the ScottishPower Regional League Cup at midday on Sunday.

Sunday will then see the final of the ScottishPower National League Cup, as Championship contenders Stirling University and Renfrew Ladies go head-to-head for SWF’s most senior cup at 4pm.

Ahead of the three ScottishPower senior cup finals, Saturday morning will also host the Youth Performance League cup final with a 10:45 kick off. The finalists will be decided by this Saturday’s semi-finals, where Hibernian host Dunfermline Athletic Whites and Dundee West host St Mirren.

Commenting, Scottish Women’s Football CEO Aileen Campbell said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome teams from across the country back to the heart of Scotland for a weekend of exciting cup finals. Our senior finals are always an exciting occasion, and this year they have their first ever title sponsor in ScottishPower, further elevating a great weekend of women’s football.

“With the final of the Youth Performance League Cup previewing the main event on Saturday morning, there’s more reasons than ever to come along and support women’s and girls’ football in May, and with a special day pass option of just £10, you can take in two games for the one ticket on either day.”

Tickets are available from SWF via the Fanbase app.
