Sheffield Utd moved to within one point of the leadership in the FA Women's Championship, thanks to a 1-0 victory away to Charlton Athletic.
The only goal of the game came on the half hour, Katie Wilkinson slotting home from the penalty spot after Lucy Watson had been brought down in the area. Blades were reduced to ten players eight minutes later when captain Leandra Little was shown a second yellow card, but United were able to secure the result they needed to move up to second place, just behind leaders Durham Women.
The other game to be played in the league also resulted in a 1-0 away win, Blackburn Rovers picking up the points against Coventry Utd. The first half was goalless but the decisive moment came eight minutes after the restart, a penalty - much disputed by the home side - being awarded for a foul on Saffron Jordan and Elise Hughes tucking home from the spot. Coventry pushed for an equaliser but Blackburn stayed strong for a second successive clean sheet, to take themselves up to fifth.
