The Football Associations of Guernsey and Jersey are pleased to announce that the Women's Muratti will return to the inter-insular football calendar in 2020.
The Muratti is an annual competition, inaugurated as a men's tournament in 1905, between teams representing the Channel Islands of Alderney, Guernsey and Jersey. The competition has been extended in recent years to include a Women's Muratti - played between Guernsey and Jersey - as well as Under-21s and Under-18s.
The match will take place at Springfield in Jersey on Sunday 17th May, the day after the Senior Men's Muratti Final. It is the first time the match will have been played since 2016.
Guernsey FA director James Falla said: "We are all delighted to see the return of the Women's Muratti in 2020. The introduction of the CI Women's League, with the invaluable support of our partners at Condor Ferries, has been a major development for the women's game in Guernsey, and the growth in player numbers and interest we have seen so far is exciting
"The return of the Muratti is an important step forward for the growth of the women's game in the island, as we still maintain our focus on the development of our squad for the 2021 NatWest Island Games in Guernsey and beyond."
Jersey FA CEO Jean-Luc Desbois added: "We're particularly pleased to confirm the women's match is back on the calendar, giving our women's side more competitive action following on from their fixtures in the Southern Counties Cup Competition."
The game will form part of an expanded Muratti weekend in Jersey from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 May, also planned to feature matches for Over-50s, walking football and disability football.
