Swansea City have taken a firm grip on the title race in the Orchard Welsh Premier Women's League after they won 1-0 against Cardiff Met Women.
Lauren Smith scored the only goal of the game in the nineteenth minute to see the Swans complete a double over the reigning Champions and gives them a lead of six points at the top of the table.
The recent withdrawal of Llandudno Ladies has forced a re-calculation of the table which has now been reduced to eight teams, with Swansea leading the way from Cardiff City Women who defeated Abergavenny Women 5-1. Danielle Green and Kate Jeremiah put City two goals ahead during the first half, with Laura Davies reducing the arrears just before half time. Green went on to complete her hat-trick after the break with two more strikes, either side of a goal from Catherine Walsh.
Port Talbot Town were 3-1 winners away to Cyncoed Ladies in the other game. Carys Davies gave Port Talbot the lead in the opening minute, which they held onto at the break, and after Alison Witts equalised for the Mighty Oaks early in the second half, Laura May Walkley put Port Talbot back in front a minute later and Kirsty O'Donnell wrapped up the win with the third goal late on.
