Actonians aim to make history
 Women's Football FA Women's Cup News - 30 Nov 2019
Actonians Ladies have enjoyed a good FA Cup run so far and are ready to test themselves on Sunday when they face Southern Premier Division high fliers Crawley Wasps, hoping to reach the Third Round for the first time in their history.
"We are delighted to be back in the Second Round Proper of the FA Cup, having not managed to get past the qualifying stages in the last few years," says secretary Linda Fox.
"We have had good cup runs in the past and have reached the Second Round twice, but lost out to higher ranked opponents on both occasions. Should we manage to beat Crawley on Sunday, it would be history making for us so we will give it our all and see how far it takes us on the day.
"We really hope to put in another strong performance and make it a good game to watch for the supporters. We tend to raise our game against stronger teams so hopefully this will be case on Sunday as well."
Manager Danny Harrigan said: "This will be the second time we have faced Crawley Wasps this season, a close League Cup fixture earlier in the season gave us an insight into the quality they possess and why they are flying high in the Southern Division.
"We came with a game plan that day to frustrate them and we came away from that fixture, despite the result, happy with the level of performance. We know just how tough the task is ahead of us, however we are a group that thrive on being the underdogs and we have prepared well for this game. We hope to build on our previous performance and see what the magic of the FA Cup can bring us on Sunday."
"We are really looking forward to playing Crawley in the Cup," added Actonians captain Catherine Murphy. "We know they are a top team but we only narrowly lost to them in the league cup (1-0) which has given the girls confidence that we can give them a good game and hopefully cause an FA Cup upset!"
