Durham Cestria v Ossett United
 Women's Football FA Women's Cup News - 6 Oct 2019

Women's FA Cup - Road to the Final

Ossett United ended the Cup hopes of Bridlington Rovers with a 7-0 victory to take them through to the Second Round Qualifying. Ellie Betteridge, Danielle Sidebottom and Chelsea Schofield all scored twice, with Emily Starkie adding the other, to set themselves up with a tie against FA Women's National League newcomers Durham Cestria, who enter the competition at this stage.

Cestria Girls were established in 2007 and, after some success as a junior grassroots club, they entered senior football after a successful merger with South Durham - who themselves were County Cup winners on a few occasions - becoming South Durham & Cestria LFC in 2012.

In 2014, the club made a successful bid to join the FA Women's Super League along with Durham University and became Durham Women F.C. Durham Cestria were formed and became an official partner club of the senior side. They quickly became very successful themselves and, a year after winning the North East League Northern Division title, they became the Premier Division Champions, as well as winning the League Cup, gaining promotion to Division One North of the National League.

Durham Cestria are managed by Gareth Smith and Jen Knowles is captain. They have started well in their new league and currently sit in fourth place, with Erin Nelson and Dannika Purdham as their leading scorers.
