The Orchard Welsh Premier Women's League has got underway for its tenth season and four teams were in action on Sunday, in the group stages of the new look League Cup.
Holders Cardiff Met Women have hit the ground running as they ran out 7-0 winners over Briton Ferry Llansawel. Met were two ahead inside the opening ten minutes thanks to Jodie Passmore and Amy Long, with Madison Schupbach netting twice ahead of half time and Steph Turner also getting on the scoresheet. Kitty Wells further increased the Archers' lead after the break, before Schupbach completed her hat-trick late on.
The other match was also in Group Two, where newly promoted Aberystwyth Town were beaten 3-0 by Port Talbot Town. Coryn Sexton gave Port Talbot an early lead, with Courteney Thomas powering in the second before the interval. Jess Curran rounded off the scoring with the third goal, sixteen minutes from time.
