The weather took its toll on the Orchard Welsh Premier Women's League on Sunday but once again, Cardiff Met Women picked up another important result on their seemingly inevitable march towards the title.
The Archers' top of the table clash with Port Talbot Town was the only match to go ahead and Met ran out 5-0 winners to further extend their lead to thirteen points over their nearest rivals.
Alice Griffiths gave Met the lead with twelve minutes on the clock and Naomi Clipston added a second shortly afterwards. Madison Schupbach then kept up her excellent form in front of goal by netting the third, on the stroke of half time. After the break, Ellie Walker-Smith made it four on the hour mark and Liv Thompson rounded off the scoring late on.
This result means that the Archers can now only be caught by Swansea City and with the two teams set to meet this coming Sunday, Met will retain the title as long as they avoid defeat against the Swans.
