Billericay Town v Loughborough Foxes
 Women's Football FA Women's Cup News - 6 Jan 2019
SSE Women's FA Cup - Road to the Final
Billericay Town went through to the Third Round for the first time in their history following a 3-1 victory over Luton Town after extra time. Jay Blackie, Karen Stefanou and Broghan Kelly scored the goals to see Billericay home in a thrilling tie. Billericay will be at home again to Loughborough Foxes, also 3-1 extra time winners against Gillingham thanks to two strikes during the extra period from Rebecca Knight, with Charlotte Broad also on target.
Loughborough Foxes is one of the leading female-only football clubs in Leicestershire. The club was formed by Gail and Paul Fox who wanted to give girls, in the Loughborough area, an opportunity to play football. The club was originally named Shepshed Foxes in memory of Gail and Paul's daughter Rachel who sadly passed away in 1999. 2019 will be a significant year for the club and a great opportunity for them to celebrate their 20th birthday while also remembering the reasons for its formation. The club became Loughborough Foxes in 2002 and now has 5 junior and 3 senior teams. Each year the club looks to create another team to help its development pathway where players can progress within the club from junior level through the age groups to the senior teams.
The senior team was formed in 2005 and has progressed on an upward spiral since. Promotion was achieved in each of the senior team's first three seasons. After this came a period of consolidation, before Director of Football Steve Wilkinson took over first team duties and progressed the team further before stepping aside in 2015 after winning the FAWPL Midland Division and securing promotion to the Northern Division. Steve then stepped aside to allow former Derby County Ladies manager Jenny Sugarman to take over and in that time, the club has a stronger infrastructure with nutritionists, S&C coaches and a good technical and tactical depth among its football staff. They have also recruited a younger, fitter playing squad that saw it win the Midlands Division last season and sit comfortably in fourth place in the Southern Premier Division as we hit the halfway stage in only their second ever season at tier 3 in the Women's Pyramid.
Foxes always love an FA Cup tie, but this Third Round clash will be a particularly special one; the fixture against Billericay will be Jenny Sugarman's last game in charge at the club. Jenny has been manager of Loughborough Foxes since July 2015, a three and a half year spell which has included a County Cup trophy and promotion to the National League Southern Premier Division. Jenny will be missed greatly by the players and staff, her work and commitment has been invaluable - but they know she won't be able to keep away completely! The club hopes the tie displays her efforts and gives the send off she deserves.
