Cheltenham end Southampton run
 Women's Football WNL Division 1 South West News - 30 Nov 2018

Keynsham Town have opened up a lead of three points at the top of the table after they defeated Southampton Saints 3-1.

Ellie Curson put the leaders in front with nine minutes on the clock and they sealed their eighth straight victory when Laura Williams and Cristina Vega Leandro added further goals either side of the hour mark, despite Alisha Buckingham pulling a late goal back for the Saints.

The two teams immediately below Keynsham in the table met each other and it was Cheltenham Town who triumphed 1-0 over Southampton Women, inflicting a first defeat of the season on their opponents. Annie Martin tipped the balance in Cheltenham's favour as she scored the only goal of the game with fourteen minutes remaining, moving third placed Cheltenham to within two points of Southampton.

In-form Brislington are three further points adrift after stretching their unbeaten league run to five matches, winning four of them, when they beat Swindon Town 2-1 in a thrilling match at Ironmould Lane. Brislington led at the break through a tenth minute goal from Courtney Adams and could have extended their lead on more than one occasion but a triple substitution in the second half breathed new life into Swindon and they levelled the scores through Helena Diaz-Butcher. Abby Picton twice went close to putting Swindon in front but Brislington weathered the storm and with two minutes remaining, were awarded a penalty following a foul in the area on Amy Ford and Polly Wardle slotted home the winning goal.

Chesham Utd made sure that the long trip to Poole Town was a happy one for them, as they ran out 5-1 winners to consolidate themselves in the top half of the table. Gemma Fraser was on target twice for the Clarets along with Niamh Euman, Lidia Niedertubbesing-Lopez and Natasha Smith, whilst the home side's consolation came from Hollie Agombar.

Buckland Athletic and Larkhall Athletic meanwhile produced an exciting match in their mid-table encounter, battling out a 3-3 draw. Laura Gough scored a late equaliser for Buckland to add to Natalie Warman's earlier double strike, whilst Adele Hooper netted a brace for the Larks, with Jodie Sheppard also on target.
