Burnley FC Women made a swift return to the top spot, thanks to a fine 1-0 win away to Newcastle Utd.
Elizabeth Hamer scored the only goal of the game with two minutes remaining and with previous leaders Brighouse Town not in action, Burnley have moved three points ahead.
Third placed Chorley also lost ground as they were beaten for the first time, 3-1 by Barnsley. Melissa Woodhouse, Sophie Bell and Mollie Crump scored the goals as Barnsley picked up their fourth win in a row in all competitions, whilst Chorley's consolation came from Katy Morris.
Bolton Wanderers moved back up the table with a 3-0 victory over Norton & Stockton Ancients. Safron Newhouse gave Bolton a seventeenth minute lead which was doubled on the hour by Ruby Howard, Rosie Havelin rounding off the win with the third goal during the second half.
Chester-le-Street Town got back to winning ways when beating Crewe Alexandra 2-0. An own goal put the Cestrians into an early lead and Elizabeth Thompson-Clarke made the points safe with the second.
Liverpool Feds leapfrogged Leeds Utd in the table after winning their meeting 1-0. Emily Douglas netted the all-important goal, seven minutes from time, to bring an end to the Feds' four match run in the league without a victory.
