Arsenal moved to within one point of Liverpool in the WSL 1 table after beating them 3-0 at the Select Security Stadium on Wednesday night.
Lisa Evans went close early on for the Gunners with an effort which was pushed away but shortly afterwards, Caroline Weir was to go even closer at the other end with a dipping 30-yard strike which came back off the bar.
The deadlock was broken just before the half hour, when Arsenal were awarded a penalty. Vivianne Miedema stepped up to take the kick and although her initial effort was saved by Rebecca Flaherty, the Dutch striker was able to follow on and tuck home the rebound to give her side the lead.
On the stroke of half time, Arsenal doubled their lead in spectacular fashion. Receiving the ball around 25 yards from goal from Miedema's pass, Dominique Janssen unleashed an unstoppable shot which found the far top corner of the net.
Liverpool tried to find a way back into the game after the break but, just after the hour, it was put beyond their reach as Lisa Evans broke through on goal and thumped a powerful shot past Flaherty and into the roof of the net for the third goal.
The result does not alter any positions in the table but Arsenal have moved to within one point of third placed Liverpool, although they are still eight points behind leaders Manchester City.
