Aston Villa clinched the Northern Division title with a 2-1 victory over Leeds City Vixens.
Stuart Wilson's side went into their last match of the season requiring a win in order to clinch the title and promotion to the National Division and made a great start, Carly Davies giving them a third minute lead. Leeds were back on level terms moments later when Hannah Spreckley equalised but Villa were to have the final say and Davies netted her second and decisive goal five minutes from time, to spark of Villa celebrations.
Leicester City went goal crazy as they ran out 11-0 winners over Rochdale. Two first half goals by Vicky Gallagher in the 5th and 41st minutes paved the way for a goal rush in the second period, Courtney Sweetman-Kirk netting four times and Natasha Meade contributing a hat-trick, with Lauren Impey and Katie Lowder also getting on the scoresheet.
There was drama at the other end of the table as Preston North End staged a 'great escape' with a 3-1 victory away to Newcastle Utd. The Lancashire side started the match on the bottom but needed a win in order to achieve survival and took a tenth minute lead through Victoria Westerman, which was doubled by Hannah Bailey. Rachel Coleman pulled a goal back for Newcastle just ahead of half time but Bailey netted her second midway through the second half to guarantee Preston's survival.
The result means that Newcastle will have to negotiate the play-offs whilst Curzon Ashton, despite a good end to the season, have been relegated.
