Charlton Athletic continue to stretch the pace at the top of the Southern Division, thanks to a
2-0 win against Brighton & Hove Albion.
For once, Addicks goal machine Gemma Bryan was not on the scoresheet, Charley Clifford giving them the lead on the half hour and Fliss Gibbons wrapping up the points eight minutes from time to give Charlton their sixth victory on the trot.
Portsmouth are up into second place after coming from behind to beat Keynsham Town 3-1. Keynsham had the better of the first half and took the lead with a strike from Kerry Bartlett but Pompey dominated matters after the break, Justine Lorton levelling with a well taken goal. Keynsham held on until five minutes from time when substitute Tamsin Pibworth fired home the second and Pibworth then set up Lindsey Roe to score a decisive third.
Cardiff City stepped up their promotion challenge by beating West Ham Utd 1-0, to climb above them into fourth place. Nicola Cousins scored the only goal of the game for the South Wales side on the stroke of half time.
At the other end of the table, the two teams currently occupying the bottom two places met each other and neither would really have been happy with the resulting 2-2 draw. Stacey Pearson gave Yeovil a tenth minute lead which they held until the hour mark when Sarah Staples equalised. Beth Curtis turned matters around when she put Rangers ahead from the penalty spot but Yeovil hit back to earn themselves a point when Jemma Tewkesbury scored, also from a penalty, five minutes from time.
