Wales Under-17 won 1-0 in the first of their friendly double header against Belgium.
Both sides battled hard throughout the first half and the score was goalless going into the interval. Belgium appeared to have a slight edge in the second half but their main chance, a header at close range, was deftly saved by Katy Maddock in the Wales goal.
With just under fifteen minutes remaining, Wales captain Hannah Keryakoplis seized her opportunity and, leaving the Belgian defence in their tracks, found the top corner of the net from the edge of the area.
A strong Welsh defence denied Belgium any further chances and they held out for a well earned victory.
The two teams will play again at the Regional Centre in Blegny on Thursday, kicking off at 10am.
