Derby County's challenge for a top two place in the Northern Division received a setback as they were held to a goalless draw by Preston North End.
The result means that the Rams have trimmed Manchester City's lead to four points but have played more games than their promotion rivals. Meanwhile the draw leaves Preston three points above the bottom two places.
Leicester City maintained their interest by running out 4-0 winners away to Curzon Ashton. Natasha Meade kept up her good recent form by netting twice in the first half and Courtney Sweetman-Kirk added a third early in the second half. Curzon goalkeeper Lauren Bracewell performed heroics between the posts but she could not prevent Meade from completing her hat-trick five minutes from time.
Rochdale moved back into mid-table with a 7-3 victory over Newcastle Utd, who stay in the bottom two. Keeleigh Savage made a swift return to the top of the division's goalscoring charts by bagging a hat-trick, Alyson Hastie weighed in with a double and there was one apiece from Steph Bell and Sarah Buffel.
