Manchester City stretched their lead at the top of the Northern Division to eight points with a
2-1 victory away to Curzon Ashton.
Lindsay Savage gave City an 18th minute lead which they kept until the break, with Stacey Marsden levelling for Curzon just before the hour mark. With ten minutes remaining, Savage netted her second from the penalty spot to give City three vital points.
Aston Villa kept up their push for a top two place by beating Leicester City 1-0. A lone goal in the 17th minute by Carly Davies settled a tight game with both defences on top. Natasha Meade twice went close for the Foxes and Davies nearly added a second but was denied by a goal line clearance from Emily Simpkins.
Coventry City played their first league match since November and it resulted in a 5-0 victory away to Newcastle Utd. Kirsty Robson led the scoring for the Sky Blues with a hat-trick and Danni Saulter added the other two.
Leeds City Vixens took the recent good Cup form into the league as they defeated Preston North End
4-2. Stacey Daniel netted a brace with Meganne Paul and Annie Highway also on the scoresheet, Tammy Burgess and Jenna Carroll replying for Preston.
One match was played in the Southern Division, Charlton Athletic running out 4-1 winners away to Brighton & Hove Albion and lifting themselves into fourth place.
Gemma Bryan took her league tally into double figures as she bagged a hat-trick for the Addicks, whose other goal came from a 35-yard strike by Grace Coombs. Sarah Kempson netted Brighton's consolation goal from the penalty spot.
