Doncaster Rovers Belles have completed the signing of left sided defender/midfielder Shelly Cox from Portsmouth.
The talented 26-year-old started her playing career at Southampton Saints whom she joined aged just 12, making her first debut at 14 years old (as permitted by the rules then). Shelly then joined Leeds United in 2002, before later moving on to Bristol Academy.
She most recently played for Portsmouth, in the Southern Division just failing to reach the FA Women's Premier League Cup Final earlier this month.
Shelly attended the FA's National Player Development Centre at Loughborough and has also been capped by England at Under-19 level in the past.
Belles manager John Buckley said of his new capture: "We are delighted that Shelly has put pen to paper, she has good experience and a terrific left foot. She has done well since coming on trial and her addition to the squad gives us good balance. Shelly can play anywhere down the left hand side and has very good quality on the ball. I'm sure that she will be do well for us in the new FA WSL."
