Over 100 girls from 17 teams took part in an Under-10/11 girls' football festival at Powerleague in Tottenham on Saturday 12th February.
The event was run by London FA and Tottenham Hotspur Ladies FC in conjunction with the Home Counties Girls Football League, and involved clubs from London, Middlesex and Hertfordshire. The teams played five-a-side and once the group stages were complete the competition split into a Cup and Plate competition.
The cup competition was won by Hampstead FC and the Plate competition was won by Tottenham Hotspur. Tottenham beat ReachOut FC in the final, which was a great achievement for ReachOut who only formed this season, following receipt of funding from the Football Foundation.
Natalie Huntley, Women's and Girls' Football Development Officer for London FA, commented: "It's fantastic to see so many girls here enjoying themselves. The standard of football has been good and I'd like to thank the Home Counties Girls Football League for making this weekend free of league fixtures so newly formed teams can play with established teams.
"I'd also like to say a big thank you to Glenn Weaver from Tottenham for organising the event and making sure everything ran so smoothly on the day."
These festivals will now take place on a monthly basis at various locations around North London. For more information please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
