Sheffield Wednesday WFC are pleased to announce the signing of one of the biggest names in English women`s football to their ranks.
Amanda Barr joins from Preston North End where she has been training to get her match fitness up after leaving Lincoln Ladies at the end of last season.
Amanda was one of the first students to gain a football scholarship at the FA National Player Development Centre at Loughborough University, whilst scoring an impressive 11 goals in 18 games with the National Under-18 Side.
Her International career for England has seen her score against Iceland in a 1-0 victory that ensured her country progressed to the World Cup Play-off Final in 2002 and she played a major part in England`s Euro 2005 campaign during which her goal against Holland helped Hope Powell`s side to a vital 3-2 victory over Finland in the opening game of the tournament.
"I'm delighted to add someone of Amanda`s abilty, experience and drive to this football club," said manager Adam Smallman. "This deal could have happened in June but the time wasn't right so for this to happen now is a real boost to the club and our end of season push for promotion."
"I am really happy to be at SWWFC, I know a number of the girls already and I'm looking forward to helping them with their League and FA Cup challenges," commented Amanda, whose debut will be this Sunday at Wakefield.
