Manchester City put their recent F.A.Women's Cup disappointment well and truly behind them to beat Curzon Ashton 3-2 and extend their Northern Division lead to eight points.
Becky Grocott gave City the lead just after the half hour and Lindsay Savage added a second in the opening minutes of the second half. Curzon hit back with Issy Hayes reducing the arrears and Jade Parker then levelled the scores, but Sarah Danby netted the winner for City with fifteen minutes remaining, to make it eight victories from eight matches and keep their promotion challenge on course.
Second placed Derby County crashed to a 6-1 home defeat to Leicester City who did their own promotion hopes a power of good. Natasha Meade opened the scoring for the Foxes in the 18th minute when she headed home a Natalie Reay corner. The Rams quickly equalised when Cara Newton hit home in the 21st minute after a neat run but Vicky Gallagher put City back in front three minutes later with a fine strike. Central defender Sammy Morris made it three ahead of the break with a bullet header from a Leah Rawle inswinging corner.
Natalie Reay drilled home in the 71st minute from the edge of the box and then became the provider as she put Meade in to grab her second. Reay rounded off the scoring six minutes from time following a fine run.
