Nottingham Forest moved back into second place in the National Division with a 2-1 victory over Leeds Utd.
Kelly Finley netted both goals for Forest in the first half, before Emma Lipman pulled one back for Leeds with eight minutes remaining. Forest held on to move to within two points of league leaders Sunderland, whose match at Barnet was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
Reading FC Women had started the day in second but went down to a 3-1 defeat at home to Watford. Holly Miles put Watford ahead on the half hour and Sarah Wiltshire continued her excellent season by scoring either side of half time. Mikaela Howell reduced the arrears for Reading with twenty minutes left but it was not enough to prevent Watford from picking up their second league victory of the season.
Blackburn Rovers battled out a 2-2 draw with Millwall Lionesses in a game where the London side were forced to play 75 minutes with only ten players after Naomi Cole was red carded for handling in the area. Nikki Twohig slotted home the resulting penalty but Millwall were back on terms five minutes later through Wendy Morgan. Blackburn went back in front immediately with a goal from leading scorer Danielle Sheen but Millwall once again hit back to earn themselves a share of the spoils, Kate Longhurst equalising early in the second half.
