Keynsham Town moved back into second place in the Southern Division with a hard earned 2-1 win against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Katarzyna Rusek put Keynsham - who gave a debut to Scotland striker Suzanne Grant - ahead in the sixth minute but Brighton battled back strongly and deservedly levelled a minute ahead of the break through a well taken goal from Kim Stenning. Charlotte Sole made two excellent saves to keep Brighton on terms but Louise Hutton settled the match with a bullet header from a Rusek corner, twenty minutes from time.
Portsmouth suffered a setback to their hopes as they went down to a 3-1 defeat away to Yeovil Town. Stacey Pearson gave Yeovil the lead after six minutes and two goals in a seven-minute spell after the break from Kayleigh Nardiello gave the Somerset side the points, Shelly Cox pulling one back for Pompey with fourteen minutes remaining.
Cardiff City recorded their first victory and points of the season, a fine 2-1 success away to Colchester Utd. Amie Lea opened the scoring for the South Wales side in the fourteenth minute with Hannah Gowland equalising eight minutes later, but a second goal from Lea nine minutes from time ensured the long journey home from Cardiff was a happy one.
