Keynsham Town have completed the signing of Scottish international striker Suzanne Grant in time for Sunday's home fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Keynsham manager Barrie Newton says all the paperwork was in place to complete what will be the club's biggest ever signing by Friday's tranfer deadline. He said: "We have been keen to sign Suzanne for some time and my assistant, Mark Ranahan has been working on the signing since the summer.
"Suzanne is a top quality player - probably amongst the top three strikers in the UK."
26-year-old Suzanne has played 80 times for Scotland, making her debut when only 16, in which she scored twice against Northern Ireland. High goalscoring spells at Glasgow City and then Hibernian were followed by a move to Arsenal in February 2009 as Suzanne replaced the legendary Kelly Smith on her move to the United States.
At Arsenal, Suzanne kept up a goal a game record. She scored on her debut in the Premier League Cup Final against Doncaster Rovers Belles and also played in the FA Women's Cup winning side that season. In May 2009 she scored the only goal of the game against Everton that clinched the Premier League Championship for Arsenal in the title decider at Widnes.
Then followed a move back north to Celtic, where Suzanne has scored over 80 goals for the Hoops in her two campaign. This season, just finished, she scored 54 goals in 16 matches for Celtic.
Newton continued: "Not only have we signed an immnese player, but Suzanne will be an inspiration and example for our young strikers at the club. It will also be a great boost after we lost our first league game last Sunday at Portsmouth 3-1 in a very unsatisfactory manner.
"Now we hope to get back on winning ways this Sunday. Suzanne has always worn the number 99 shirt at Celtic and we have the same number lined up for her at Keynsham."
