Doncaster Rovers Belles are delighted to announce the signing of Republic of Ireland international striker Aine O'Gorman from Peamount United LFC.
21-year-old O'Gorman comes to Doncaster off the back of a spectacular treble winning season with her club in Ireland. After winning the league and League Cup, Peamount sealed the FAI Cup thanks to a hat-trick from O'Gorman who also set the other up in a 4-2 win. Aine was one of three nominations for Senior Women's International Player of the Year last month at the FAI International Football awards.
Aine established herself as a member of the senior international squad as a 16-year old and has featured in three qualifying campaigns since, gaining 38 caps.
She built up a good reputation in the game through her displays for Stella Maris and the Irish youth sides at both Under-17 and Under-19 levels. Aine was a mainstay of the Stella Maris side, which won National Cups in the Under-16 and Under-18 age brackets.
Aine has been a prolific scorer in Ireland and will be looking for that to continue in the new FA Women's Super League.
Aine said: "It's great to have the opportunity to play for a club with so much history and I'm really looking forward to the Super League.
"The standard is going to be excellent and it'll be great for me to be involved with that. After the top three or four teams, the standard in Ireland gets weaker but it is getting better. "We missed out on qualifying for the World Cup but I think we've got a great chance of making the Euros."
Belles manager John Buckley added: "We are delighted that we have been able to attract Aine to the club. She will prove to be an excellent addition to the squad.
"Aine is hungry to do well, wants to score goals and will certainly be a handful for any defender to deal with in the Super League. It says a lot that she's won 38 caps for her country and she's just 21.
"She is very similar to Rachel Williams in her attributes and I think we've got a real player on our hands."
