Two more join Gillingham - 7 Jul 2010 - Women's Football NewsGillingham have continued their summer signing spree and have further strengthened their squad for the forthcoming season by completing a double swoop.

Danielle Carlton joins from Milton and Fulston and is a highly rated central midfielder who will add some competition to the Gills midfield. Having played Premier League football before, Dan was itching to play at the highest possible level again, and is looking forward to playing for the Gills. She said: "I signed for the Gills because it was a great opportunity for me not to turn down like I did last year.

"I want to continue to play at a high level with a great bunch of girls; this will hopefully boost my confidence a lot. This team has great talent and are going along way and I want to be a part of it.

"This season I hope to get into the first team and stay there, hopefully score a few stunners and also to go a long way in the League and win some trophies."

Manager Ian Varley is delighted to have a midfielder of Dan's abilities joining Gills Ladies for the upcoming season. He said: "Dan is another one who was at Charlton in the National Premiership and again is a very talented player who I have high hopes for. She's working hard in pre-season and if she gets to a high standard of fitness she'll be another big player for us. Technically she is a fantastic footballer."

The second player to join is Kate Cronin-Wilson. The youngster, who turns sixteen shortly, arrives from the Canterbury City Centre of Excellence and is thought of as a hot young prospect in the Women's game. In Kate, manager Ian Varley believes he has uncovered a gem that has a massive future in the women's game.

"Kate is not 16 yet and we were lucky enough to spot her in the trials," he said. "She is definitely one for the future and with a good season in the Reserves and an improvement on fitness and sharpness, she will have a good career in the game."
