Andy takes reins at Preston - 10 Jun 2010 - Women's Football NewsPreston North End can today announce the appointment of Andy Burgess as their new Head Coach.

The Premier League club announce the former Nottingham Forest Ladies assistant, Leeds Carnegie coach and Sheffield Wednesday manager to take charge with immediate effect as they look to take the club forward.

Burgess, 28, said of his appointment: "I am delighted to take the opportunity to lead Preston North End and hopefully make good things happen at the football club. I have very high ambitions for this football club, and I shall be looking to build a squad of players to take us onto the next level."

Club Secretary Amanda Cummings added: "We are absolutely delighted to welcome Andy on board. Andy has gained a wide range of experience within the women's game, he shows great drive, ambition and above all professionalism.
