Glasgow City began the defence of the Unite Scottish Cup by progressing to the Third Round with a 2-0 win away to Boroughmuir Thistle. After the first half ended goalless, Leanne Ross put City in front from the penalty spot and Jane Ross added the second following a good move. All of the Premier League teams in action made it through to the last sixteen but Inverness were pushed all the way to extra time by Hutchison Vale before eventually emerging as 3-2 winners, thanks to a Zoe Johnstone double and an own goal. Rangers, beaten Finalists last time around, ran out 6-1 winners away to Raith Rovers. Cheryl Gallacher hit a hat-trick for the 'Gers, Michaela Brown bagged a brace and Louise Magilton was also on target. Karen McInally led the scoring with a hat-trick as Celtic were emphatic winners over Hamilton Academicals Res and Debbie McWhinnie also grabbed a treble for Hibernian who eased past Dunfermline Athletic with an 8-2 victory. Glasgow City Res defeated Troon City with goals from Lisa Hendry and Louise Thompson. In the other games played, Dundee Utd SC went through to the Third Round along with Celtic Res, Cowdenbeath, Aberdeen University and Hibernian 2000.
