![]() They went into the game needing a point in order to secure the Championship and managed to do so in a tense game against a useful Lichfield side. The first half was evenly contested with few chances at either end but it was Worcester who went ahead just before the interval as a long ball forward from Frankie Hocking was missed by everybody and found its way into the corner of the net. After the break, Louise Holmes had a second goal harshly ruled out for a foul and Worcester grew more nervous as the half wore on. A strong Lichfield defence, with Steph Cole's excellent handling in goal, kept them at bay and they pushed forward for an equaliser during the later stages. Hocking was having an outstanding match in the centre of defence for Worcester and she headed away a number of dangerous situations but, in the second minute of injury time, Lichfield were awarded a penalty for a handball offence in the area. Jo Hearne stepped up to take the kick and, although her shot was well saved by Donna Harris, Hearne kept her cool to tuck home the rebound and level the scores. However there were no further scares for Worcester who ran down the clock and they were soon able to celebrate their second successive title and promotion, this time to the Midland Combination.
