Swansea City have been crowned the inaugural Welsh Women's Premier League Champions following a 4-0 triumph over Caernarfon Town at Haverfordwest on Sunday afternoon. The Swans have not only lifted the inaugural trophy and £8,000 prize money, but they have also claimed a place in the UEFA Women's Champions League for the first time. Swansea's hero was midfielder Laura May Walkley, who scored a hat-trick for her side at the Bridge Meadow Stadium. Sarah Adams broke the deadlock after 27 minutes, before Walkley struck her first two minutes later. She also scored a second half brace for Ian Owen's side who can now look forward to planning their European campaign. Swansea had reached the Final by winning the Southern Conference of the League, whilst Caernarfon had won the Northern Conference. Sunday's 'Winner Takes All' showdown rounds off a very successful first season of the FAW's Welsh Women's Premier League, which will increase from eight sides to ten for the 2010-11 season.
