![]() On a rain swept Holmes Park pitch, both sides played some entertaining football but it was City who took the lead on 18 minutes from a Leah Rawle corner which Courtney Sweetman-Kirk headed home past Loughborough goalkeeper Nic Dodd. Three minutes later, Kirsty Robson's powerful header from a Sweetman-Kirk corner made it two. Loughborough responded and a Kirsty Matthews shot was inches wide, while Laura Steele's powerful drive just flashed by keeper Leanne Hall's post. However it was City who increased their lead just before the interval from another set piece, when Rawle's deft left foot inswinging corner was smashed home by Katie Lowder. Loughborough still pressed in the second half and after good build up play, both Matthews and Mel Reid yet again went close. City produced the more clinical finishing with Natasha Meade finding the net in the 53rd minute and Robson bagged her second on 71 minutes, to virtually seal the game for Leicester, and with ten minutes remaining, youngster Kirsty Linnett fired home a fierce drive to complete the scoring. Leicester therefore lift the cup for the fifth year running but there was special praise for a Loughborough side who continued to play good football throughout.
