Everton went into second place in the National Division with a 2-0 victory over Birmingham City on Wednesday night. Natasha Dowie followed up her hat-trick on Sunday by giving Everton the lead after six minutes and Fern Whelan added the second goal, shortly before half time. Leeds Carnegie meanwhile got back to winning ways and their 2-0 success at Blackburn Rovers has taken them back into third. Steph Houghton opened the scoring for Leeds midway through the first half and Jess Clarke wrapped up the points just ahead of the hour mark.
