Liverpool took themselves to the brink of the Northern Division title with a 3-2 victory away to Sheffield Wednesday. Kelly Jones, Katie Brusell and Cheryl Foster netted the goals to ensure that the Reds required two points from their final four games in order to confirm themselves as Champions. Leicester City were unable to take an opportunity to move back into second place as they battled out a 3-3 draw with Preston North End, who were involved in yet another high scoring game! Preston raced into a two-goal lead through Chantelle O'Hare, who fired home from 25 yards on 27 minutes and Gemma Watson, with a clever curling shot from a Sarah Berry pass. The Foxes pulled a goal back straight away when Rachel Stowell stabbed home a Leah Rawle cross and Lauren Impey powered home a header from a Rawle corner to level the scores, five minutes before half time. Leicester went in front in the 56th minute as a deep cross from Impey was helped into the net by Stowell for her second but Preston hit back for a share of the spoils when Sam Cadwallader finished well from a Hannah Bailey cross. Curzon Ashton have their eyes set on a mid-table finish after they fought out a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa. Kellie Leyland put Curzon in front after exchanging passes with Sophie Riley and Louise Fellows replied for Villa via a fine shot from distance. Derby County edged out of the bottom two on goal difference following their 1-1 draw against Newcastle Utd. In an evenly contested game, Derby did take the lead midway through the second half with a powerful strike from Jenni Anslow but they were pegged back six minutes from time as Melanie Reay volleyed home the equaliser from a Dannika Purdham cross.
