Arsenal have gone to the top of the Premier League following a 1-0 victory away to previous leaders Leeds Carnegie. For the second Sunday in succession, the Gunners took the points courtesy of an early strike from Rachel Yankey but they needed to withstand pressure from Leeds in order to hold on for the points. Chelsea kept up their run of good form by beating Nottingham Forest 1-0, a result which takes them level on points with second placed Leeds. The only goal of the game came from England international Claire Rafferty on the hour mark, to keep alive the Blues' challenge for a top two place. Everton are a further three points adrift in fourth place after they ran out 4-0 winners at Sunderland. Jill Scott gave them an early lead with a goal against her former club, which was doubled by a long range strike from Fara Williams. An injury-hit Sunderland side worked hard to try and get back into the game but Gwennan Harries netted a third for Everton just before the hour and Williams rounded off the scoring six minutes from time. Blackburn Rovers made it three victories in a row with a 2-1 success against Bristol Academy. Katie Anderton put Rovers in front in the seventh minute and Nicole Emmanuel added the second five minutes later. This proved to be decisive, despite Academy pulling back a goal late on through midfielder Katie Daley.
