![]() The Development team beat Newcastle Medics 3-1 at Benfield to clinch the title after an unbeaten season that has seen them drop only two points. The team is mainly last year's Under-16 side which stayed together for their first season in adult football and a number of them have progressed to make their debut for the Reserves, which ensures a healthy production line of good young players. They have one game remaining against Walker Central and will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run. They join the Whitley Bay first team and reserves in winning their League in their first season. Whitley firsts won the Durham & Northumberland County League in 2005-06 and the reserves won the Northumberland County League in 2007-08 - both going the whole season unbeaten, something the Development team are keen to do. The achievement is more remarkable as they have operated all season without a Manager, with First Team Coach Colin Phillips and Reserves team Coach Andy Windscheffel sharing the match day duties with Paul Gorman whose daughter Charlie played for the team but quickly progressed as a reserve team regular.
