Barnet kept up the pace at the top of the Southern Division by running out 5-0 winners over Colchester Utd.
Stacey Sowden and Claire Thomas each scored twice, with Cheryl Williams adding the other for the Bees who extended their advantage to six points.
Portsmouth are now in second place following their 2-1 win at home to WFC Fulham. After the visitors took an early lead, Zoe Nash levelled the scores on the hour mark and Justine Lorton settled matters with the winning goal, two minutes from time.
Reading FC Women lost some ground and are back in third place after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Charlton Athletic. Danielle Puddefoot put Reading in front in the 58th minute, with Kristina Manktelow hitting back with a late equaliser for the Addicks.
West Ham Utd got back to winning ways with a 3-1 success at Queen's Park Rangers. Gemma Shepherd was on target twice, one from the penalty spot, along with Nina Downham for the Hammers, while Rangers' consolation came from Beth Curtis.
Keynsham Town ended Brighton & Hove Albion's unbeaten run by beating them 6-2, a result which sees them replace the Seagulls in fifth place. Ashley Reinecke and Leanne Lapham each bagged doubles for Keynsham whose others came from Ana Bruni and Kayleigh Sage.
