Liverpool opened up a huge eleven point lead at the top of the Northern Division with a 2-0 victory against second placed Leicester City. This top of the table affair produced a tight game at Winchester Road. The visitors shaded the first period with the Reds' in-form striker Cheryl Foster bagging a brace in the 25th and 40th minutes, taking her tally for the season to 15. The Foxes had the lion's share of the second half with some chances going narrowly wide. City were given a lifeline when they were awarded a penalty for handball but Courtney Sweetman-Kirk shot straight at Liverpool goalkeeper Hannah Williams. Leeds City Vixens meanwhile moved into the top half of the table after running out 3-0 winners over Derby County. Meganne Paul put the Yorkshire side in front and they went on to record further goals through Michelle Walsh and a Natalie Haigh penalty. | ||||||||||
