Final returns to City Ground
 Women's Football News 16 Feb 2010

The Football Association and Nottingham Forest Football Club are proud to announce that the City Ground will be the venue for the FA Women's Cup Final.

This will be the third occasion that the Final has taken place at the City Ground, a stadium that still holds the record attendance for a domestic women's game in England with a crowd of 24,582 attending the 2008 Cup Final between Arsenal and Leeds. The City Ground also hosted the 2007 Final between Arsenal and Charlton.

It is hoped the match, taking place Bank Holiday Monday May 3rd 2010, will attract the best ever attendance for a domestic women's game in England. The international crowd of 29,092 for England's victory against Finland at the City of Manchester stadium in 2005 is still a record for a women's match in England.

Forest's Chief Executive Mark Arthur said: "We are delighted to welcome the FA Women's Cup Final sponsored by E.ON back to the City Ground for the third time in four years. We have proved in the past that we can successfully stage the highest profile women's football event in the UK. Hopefully the 2010 final will be every bit as memorable - for players and supporters alike - as the previous games at the City Ground."

The 2010 Final will be the fourth one played under the sponsorship of E.ON and forms one part of a wider partnership the energy company has with The FA. E.ON also sponsor The FA Cup, The FA Youth Cup and The FA Schools Programme in what is their last season of sponsorship with The FA.

Phil Boas, Head of Sponsorship and Events, E.ON said: "Our sponsorship of the competition has helped us invest in all levels of the game and in young people, schools and local communities across the country so we're delighted that the Final, in our last season as sponsor of The FA Women's Cup, will be returning to Nottingham; a key heartland for our colleagues and our business."

Sue Hough, Chairman of the FA Women's Committee, added: "We are very pleased that this year's Final will be held once again at Nottingham Forest Football Club. The City Ground is a fantastic stadium with first class facilities and we are delighted to be working with them once again on the 2010 Final.

"We hope fans, families and teams from across the region, and across the country as a whole, will help us set a new record Cup Final attendance this coming May in Nottingham."
